Traditional process of a Machine Builder before IronCAD
- Concepts in sketch by chief designer.
- Drawings to draftsmen - for making in 2D & assembly views. Some of the views are assumed which leads to problems. This leads to Loss of time here because of lack of transfer of concept to draftsmen. (Main designer time/ owner is getting blocked for correction).
- Each .dwg is to be corrected and sent to fabrication to vendors.
- After fabrication, when the material comes back, there is mis-match to the tune of approx 5%.
- This is because the actual 3D issue comes up only during the fabrication.
- Re-work. Material loss.
- Machine- first run...notices some modifications; Again re-work meaning some parts have to be replaced. Typically approx 5% parts are replaced.
- Final run & Q.C., Customer onsite visit. If customer finds changes, same to be incorporated. More cost….
- Despatch - Roll out.
- Delay is to the tune of 2 months from planned time.
CHANGE: Process Adopted After IronCAD is implemented.
- Sketches by concept / chief designer.
- User converts to IronCAD model - simultaneously suggestions and corrections are done.
- Generative drawings, detailed views are error-free since they are generated out of IC model.
- No mis-match issues. No rework therefore no material loss.
- Customer saves atleast one month in drafting time.
- Machine re-work after first run minimized.
